Biogas
Biogas plants use materials such as animal manure or corn silage. During the fermentation process in a fermenter, biogas is produced with a methane content of approximately 60%.
This biogas is contaminated with H2S. Plants using renewable raw materials (NAWARO) or other biomass, such as food waste (co-fermentation), also produce VOCs during fermentation.

Sewage gas
Sewage gas, also known as digester gas, is formed during the fermentation process of organic substances in wastewater inside a digester tower of a sewage treatment plant. The methane content in sewage gas is approximately 65%.
Sewage gas is typically contaminated with H2S and silicon, which need to be purified. Compared to biogas, the H2S contamination is significantly lower.

Landfill gas
Landfill gas is produced at waste landfills sites, as a result of the fermentation of stored waste, which is decomposed by microorganisms. The methane content in landfill gas is approximately 55%.
Landfill gas can contain various contaminants. Typically, these include VOCs and silicon, as well as H2S in smaller amounts compared to biogas.
